About Us
Rave Reviews!
Tsarevich Furs specializes in hand-crafted, luxury fur and leather items made from new, high-quality fur skins. The business’s core competency is its line luxurious custom-made jackets, coats, and fur blankets. Each of the company’s creations is a work of art in its own right. Our creative team uses only the highest quality materials to craft our apparel and accessories. We work closely with our clients in choosing the most appropriate type of fur, the custom coloring, and the perfect finish materials to complete the design. Our creative team will custom dye fur to match wall or fabric colors and tuft and quilt exquisite patterns onto the finished material. Our most popular furs are sheared nutria, sheared beaver, sheared mink, and Russian sable.

In 2003, the company expanded by adding a line of couture fur coats, vests, and jackets to their already popular home décor line. Tsarevich Furs also works with clients in redsigning out of style and older furs into refreshing coat and vest designs or into cozy blankets and throws that will give the owner many more years of pleasure. |
Greg Tinder, founder, president, and chief designer of Tsarevich Furs, trained for many years before starting his business. In college, Tinder majored in interior architecture with a minor in apparel design and pattern making. While in college and after graduation, Tinder founded and ran a successful couture clothing business for an ever-growing clientele (his wedding dresses were extremely popular). |

Tinder’s interest in fur peaked while selling couture clothing at a major department store. After securing a sales position in the fur salon of the same store, Greg spent a number of years learning to distinguish the subtle features of quality fur skins. In 1994, Tinder moved to Chicago where he apprenticed with a master furrier who navigated Tinder through the technical difficulties of sewing and crafting superior fur items. In 1998, his hard work paid off when Tinder himself became a certified master furrier. |
Seth Thayer, Vice President and Director of Operations for Tsarevich Furs, graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1994 with a master's degree in decorative arts. He worked as the Assistant Curator of American Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago from the time of his graduation until 1998. Since 1998, Thayer has run his own consulting firm, American Arts Consulting, and acts as an advisor to private collectors and museums across the country. He co-authored the book American Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago, and has written numerous articles on silver, contemporary wood turning, and other related subjects. Seth also maintains his "Maine Foodie" blog:
"A place to discuss food in Maine, either what I have on the stove at the moment or reviews of food made outside my kitchen."
